Mediation Skills Training
Smile’s seven day accredited mediator training is approved by the College of Mediators and is equivalent to NVQ level 3; all our training packages attract CPD (continuous professional development) points. Groups of 12 – 16 provide for optimum learning and skills development.

Smile’s training course is for 7 full days and our next one will be in Autumn 2018. Dates will be advised in the new year.
Conflict Resolution & Communication Skills
A two day course providing the skills to facilitate difficult conversations in order to help people find the best solution for themselves. This course is suitable for frontline staff and we can deliver the course to a maximum number of 16 people. The course includes the following elements:
- Conflict Awareness – conflict is inevitable. This session explores the dynamic of conflict and conflict theory.
- Conflict Styles – an approach that helps you to understand your personal responses to conflict. The more we know and understand ourselves the more able we are to manage difficult situations. This tool looks at conflict from a number of different perspectives, examining how conflict affects us all, our reactions to conflict and how we deal with it.
- Communication & Listening Skills – using a range of interactive exercises to help you practice and explore key skills to manage low level conflict and be able to communicate effectively.
- Handling difficult conversations – designed to help you work with people in conflict, in particular with individuals on a one to one basis to help them move from their stated ‘position’ towards what really matters to them (their interests and needs). You will learn how to encourage people to talk about their conflict, explore change and build on their own resources.
